Sterling Medical Devices participated in the software development, testing, and refinement of several DICOM imaging systems.
- DICOM Image Capture System: The system captures DICOM images of patient skeletal features in various positions. The X-Ray image capture system connects to a picture archiving and communication system (PACS) server to archive the images of the bone.
- DICOM Image Display System: The system displays DICOM images, enabling the physician to make a diagnosis. The Image Display System connects to a picture archiving and communication system (PACS) server to retrieve the images to be displayed.
- DICOM Image Analysis System: The software analyzes DICOM images to measure the size of portions of a bone. This allows the manufacturer to construct a custom orthopedic product. To retrieve images for analysis, the system connects to a picture archiving and communication system (PACS) server. The system’s software then analyzes the X-Ray images and records the parameters of the bone.
The development focused on the development, testing, and refinement of the software for the system.
