Sterling Medical Devices assisted in the development of a next-generation Class III microburst stimulation system. The system includes Major level of concern software as well as a handheld device powered by a TI MSP430 microcontroller. The client came to Sterling with an existing device with embedded features that were unavailable to users at launch by design. Sterling developed enhanced software to allow for user control of these features. As part of this effort, Sterling Medical Devices ensured that the EKG system the device was in sync with the microburst stimulations. The updated software was designed for use in R&D environments, and therefore was not subject to FDA or ISO regulation. In addition to feature upgrades, the new software featured improved overall performance and updated UI/UX. Sterling handled full-lifecycle software development, from early design to formal verification & validation testing.
