Orthopedic Planning and Correction System

Sterling Medical Devices developed a fully-updated web-based application for a Class II orthopedic planning and correction system with Moderate Level of Concern software. The software recommends to surgeons a day-by-day treatment plan for fixing long bone fractures based on patient X-rays. The treatment plan – leveraging ring fixators – calculates adjustments to strut length while helping to avoid rotational and translational deformities. One major update by Sterling was inclusion of the ability to upload patient X-rays and take bone measurements from within the software (previous measurements were made by hand and entered manually). The software identifies several feature of the frame on the X-ray including joints, struts, and mounting holes. Another significant addition was 3-dimensional rendering and viewing capability, allowing the render to be manipulated and viewed from any angle in real-time.
