The Challenge

A Targeted Drug Delivery-focused company selected Vantage MedTech to develop a Physician programmer and Patient Therapy Device. Each of the components was a ground up design effort that was designed with the needs and convenience of the patient and physician in mind.

The Complexity
  • A programmer which communicates wirelessly with an implanted medication pump that resided inside the body and communicated. The physician controller manages the s all the interfaces with the pump.  Both validation and verification went performed to ensure that device is safe and effective.
  • To design a patient controller featuring custom UI for wirelessly programming and controlling medication delivery, including the ability for patients to administer a pre-determined bolus.
  • Incorporating clinical feedback to create a design that was ergonomic and easy to use, with a clear backlit screen and intuitive user interface. The clinician programmer was multi-use, allowing the clinician to program the pump to adjust constant medicine flow rates, set up complex medicine delivery schedules, review programming history, and print patient records.
